A hand reaches out of the water for help and gets a high five. Label the person in trouble, the supposed helper, and the gesture that does nothing to solve the problem.
The approaching hand briefly looks like a rescue. The high five turns that expectation into a joke about encouragement, celebration, or sympathy arriving when practical help was needed.
This four-panel version finishes with hands disappearing beneath the water. Keep that ending visible: it shows why the cheerful gesture was not enough.
