Eyes closed, fingers against his forehead: Boromir needs a moment. Add the small mistake or repeated problem that has finally used up your patience.
The hand-to-forehead gesture reads as weary disbelief rather than surprise. It fits a problem you should have anticipated or have already explained more than once.
The caption can put the blame on yourself. Forgetting an attachment, making a duplicate shopping trip, or unplugging the wrong cable gives the facepalm a clear cause.
Sean Bean plays Boromir in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings films. This reaction image shows the character pressing his fingers to his forehead. [1] [2]
Meme catalogs list this particular frame as Frustrated Boromir. The lowered eyes and forehead gesture distinguish it from the separate One Does Not Simply image. [2]
Put a short setup along the upper edge and the frustrating result below Boromir’s face. Leave the hand and closed eyes clear; they already explain how the speaker feels.
For an understated version, use only one brief situation in the lower caption. Choose a detail that makes the annoyance obvious without adding a paragraph of context.
