Also called Greenspan Pointing
Deliver a very serious explanation for a very small money problem. The raised finger and microphone make a snack budget sound like an economic briefing.
Greenspan appears to be making a careful point. Pair that authority with an everyday calculation, such as spending more to qualify for a discount or explaining where the lunch money went.
The contrast works best when the caption sounds confident but its logic is visibly weak. You can also use a dry correction that brings an exaggerated claim back to a mundane fact.
Alan Greenspan chaired the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors from August 1987 to January 2006. That public role gives a photograph of him explaining something an association with economic authority. [1]
Keep the glasses and raised finger visible. The lower strip has room for one short statement beneath the expression.
Try a grand explanation followed by a small amount of money, or present questionable shopping arithmetic with complete confidence. These should read as your jokes, not as quotations from Greenspan.
