A large prisoner speaks to the smaller man beside him. After the reply, he moves to the far end of the bench. Give the smaller man an answer that makes an ordinary habit sound alarming.
The reaction reverses the expected roles: the imposing character is the one who backs away. A confession about something trivial can become a ridiculous reason to keep your distance.
The last panel is silent. The smaller character’s reply needs to explain the change without an additional caption spelling out what the big man thinks.
Put the question in the first speech bubble and the reply in the second. The final panel already supplies the response: moving away.
Keep the reply very short. The small bubble works best with a few words, and a familiar annoyance makes the exaggerated reaction easy to understand.
