Also called Mary Jane Ready to Hear It · Spider-Man Tell Me the Truth
Mary Jane asks for the truth, Peter answers, and her expression falls. Put a mildly painful fact in the middle panel and let the final reaction do the rest.
The speaker says they are prepared for honesty, then visibly regrets hearing it. An ordinary disappointment receives the emotional weight of a dramatic confession.
The first panel already asks the question. Only Peter’s answer needs changing; the last panel works as a silent reaction.
The frames show Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson and Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker near the end of Spider-Man (2002). The film’s relationship scene supplies the request for honesty and the disappointed reaction. [1] [2]
A three-panel meme was posted to Reddit on December 24, 2020, followed by a Twitter variation the next day. More examples circulated in March 2021. Meme creators replace Peter’s reply with their own unwelcome facts or opinions. [2]
Write one short sentence along the bottom of the middle panel. Keep the original question and Mary Jane’s final expression visible.
Try a small disappointment: a missing save file, the end of the snacks, or the realization that tomorrow is Monday. The movie expressions provide the drama.
