Give Sue’s announcement a petty cause. The existing subtitle supplies the threat; your caption identifies who is about to make things awkward.
Sue looks calm while announcing a plan to cause trouble. The contrast makes an ordinary source of friction sound like a carefully considered villainous scheme.
The caption can identify a person, an object, or your own bad habit. A family board game or an unwashed mug is enough to set off the joke.
Sue Sylvester delivers the line in “Throwdown,” the seventh episode of Glee, which aired on October 14, 2009. A subtitled still later became a reaction image used with new situations. [1]
The format also developed text-blackout versions, where parts of the existing subtitle were hidden to give Sue a different announcement. [1]
“Throwdown” supplies the scene and Sue’s promise to make the environment toxic. [1]
Know Your Meme records a shared image of the line on Facebook. [1]
A Twitter post precedes further variations pairing the still with new situations and altered subtitles. [1]
This version already contains Sue’s line. Add your short setup in the open area on the right, above the subtitle, so the viewer can read the new context followed by her announcement.
Try a harmless source of chaos: a game everyone takes too seriously, an overactive group chat, or the mug nobody has washed. The small cause makes the solemn announcement funnier.
