Also called No Bear · Bear Says No · How About No
A black bear holds both paws out while the image answers “HOW ABOUT NO.” Add the request you would like to refuse, then let the bear deliver a firm response.
The raised paws make the refusal look physical, as though the bear is pushing the suggestion away. The short reply leaves little room for negotiation.
A mildly unreasonable request usually gives the reaction enough context. Early starts, unnecessary meetings, and offers to share the last bite all work without a long explanation.
Know Your Meme documents the bear image with this phrase on Flickr as early as December 14, 2006. The photograph’s original source is not established by that record. [2]
An April 5, 2007 post on MyConfinedSpace preserves the captioned bear under the title “Bear Says ‘How About No’.” The format later reappeared on meme sites and generators, including a renewed round of sharing in 2012. [1] [2]

New reposts and generator versions circulate with the same dismissive phrase. [2]
Place the unwanted suggestion along the top edge. Leave the bear’s paws, face, and large printed response visible.
Use wording that could actually be a request: “Share your fries?” or “One more meeting?” Keeping it short makes the refusal feel immediate.

The last few fries are apparently not part of the sharing agreement.
The enthusiasm for an early start is decidedly one-sided.
