Edna Mode has made a decision, and the discussion is over. Replace her ban on capes with the one thing you refuse to add, tolerate, or negotiate.
Her clenched expression turns a short refusal into a rule. The caption sounds as though she has already seen what happens when people ignore it.
A firm “No” followed by a specific item fits the image. It can be a sensible boundary, a professional pet peeve, or a comically strict personal preference.
The image comes from Pixar’s The Incredibles, released in 2004. Costume designer Edna Mode discusses a new suit with Bob Parr. When he proposes a cape, she lists heroes whose capes caused fatal accidents and refuses to include one. [1] [2]
Know Your Meme traces an early online image of the line to a computer-wallpaper screenshot posted by DeviantArt user UndeadPrincess on December 29, 2004. Later fan art and captioned images reuse Edna’s refusal for other costume choices and rules. [2]
Place the rule along the bottom, below Edna’s mouth. Her eyes, glasses, and clenched teeth provide the tone, so leave them clear.
Start with “No” and name the thing being rejected. If the rule needs a setup, add a Header above the picture rather than filling her face with text.
