Give a minor inconvenience a mastermind. Dr. Evil’s finger-to-lip pose turns a petty plan or an absurd demand into a grand announcement.
The raised finger and steady stare suggest someone carefully considering a scheme. A caption can reveal that the scheme is no more ambitious than hiding the remote or taking the last biscuit.
An exaggerated number also suits the pose. The joke comes from treating a ridiculous demand with the seriousness of a world-conquering villain.
Mike Myers plays Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers films. The character first appears in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in 1997 and parodies James Bond villains, particularly Ernst Stavro Blofeld. [1]
Place the caption low on the gray suit, leaving the face and finger visible. A short command or demand gives the portrait a voice.
For a petty-plan joke, choose a recognizable annoyance and present it as deliberate. For a numbers joke, name the thing being counted so the amount has context.
