What does Skips Sitting Next to Graves mean?

Also called The Price of Immortality · An Immortal Price · Skips Outlives His Friends

Friends sit together at sunset; later, Skips is the only one left beside their graves. Use the two panels for a group that once existed and the person, object, or habit that outlasted it.

The upper panel establishes companionship or a collection. The lower panel changes the mood by leaving one survivor after the others are gone.

The result can be nostalgic or gently absurd. An abandoned game lobby carries a different feeling from one stubborn houseplant, even though both use the same before-and-after structure.

Origin

A fan artist imagines the cost of Skips’s immortality.

Irwincardozo Comics posted the artwork, titled “An Immortal Price,” to Facebook on May 25, 2015. It imagines the immortal Regular Show character Skips outliving his friends. The two-panel scene is fan art and does not occur in the television series. [1]

Know Your Meme records a labeled Reddit version from July 18, 2019. Further edits spread in April and May 2020, giving Skips and the other characters new identities to compare what lasts with what disappears. [1]
