A plane heads toward its destination, then makes a U-turn on the map. Use the two panels for an appealing plan and the detail that immediately ends it.
The upper panel shows commitment to a direction. The lower panel reverses it, so the joke needs a new piece of information that makes leaving seem obvious.
It works for hidden conditions, unexpectedly early starts, or conversations that are becoming more trouble than they are worth. The journey is a metaphor; the caption does not have to involve travel.
Write the appealing offer across the top panel and the deal-breaker above the returning plane in the bottom panel.
Keep the plane and its curved trail visible. They do the work of showing that the person has changed their mind.
