Two photos catch a person airborne in a hallway. Name the thing they are avoiding as if touching the floor would mean having to do it.
The childhood “floor is lava” rule turns into an avoidance joke. The floor can represent a chore, a responsibility, or a habit the speaker refuses to adopt.
Both photos reinforce the same point. You do not need separate dialogue for each side; one floor label explains the whole image.
Twitter user princessofwifi posted the two photos on April 24, 2016, with a joke about intending to sleep early but staying up late. The images were later repurposed for the floor-is-lava format. [1]
In June 2017, edits named unwanted actions as the floor and sometimes replaced the jumping person’s identity. Know Your Meme documents examples on Twitter and Facebook before the format spread through Reddit. [1]
Put “The floor is” followed by the unwanted action across the empty floor area. Keep the airborne figures visible.
Choose one specific task or behavior. A small, recognizable obligation makes the physical effort look wonderfully unnecessary.
