A contented seal gives way to an awkward-looking one. Put the brief moment of satisfaction in the upper picture and the overlooked fact that spoils it in the lower picture.
The first caption celebrates something before the second supplies missing information. The apparent win can be real but smaller than expected, or it can disappear entirely when the truth arrives.
Both lines should concern the same event. The format works best when the reader recognizes exactly why the satisfied expression no longer fits.
Write the pleasant thought along the lower edge of the upper photograph. Add the inconvenient fact below the second seal’s face. These positions keep both expressions visible.
Use the second line to change what the first one means. Finding a bargain and then noticing a fee is a clearer reversal than two unrelated good and bad events.
