Everyone wants Dexter to repeat what he just said. Put the request in the first panel and a phrase your audience would love to hear in the second.
The first panel shows Dexter surrounded by admirers. The close-up below turns his answer into a private whisper, making even an ordinary sentence sound irresistible.
The punchline can be a practical promise: free delivery, an empty calendar, or food someone else has already made. The exaggerated admiration supplies the reaction.
In the Dexter’s Laboratory episode “The Big Cheese,” Dexter tries to learn French while sleeping. The recording gets stuck, leaving him able to say only “omelette du fromage” the next day. His schoolmates are unexpectedly impressed. [1]
This template pairs their attention with Dexter repeating the phrase. Replacing his answer lets the same scene turn any welcome sentence into something worth hearing again. [1]
Use the top of the first image for a brief request such as “Say it again.” Put Dexter’s answer near the bottom of the close-up, away from the characters’ eyes.
Choose a sentence that sounds like good news to a particular audience. There is no need to repeat the original French line unless the joke is about the episode itself.
