An announcement gets a quiet room. One extra detail gets a standing ovation. Give Lois two lines and let the crowd show which part people actually wanted to hear.
The four panels alternate between Lois at a microphone and her audience. The first crowd waits; the final crowd cheers. That change gives a short announcement its punchline.
You can use the applause sincerely for welcome news or sarcastically for a promise that sounds better than it is. The second speech panel should reveal why the audience suddenly cares.
The scene is from the Family Guy episode It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One, first broadcast on May 13, 2007. Lois runs against Mayor Adam West after discovering pollution in the local lake. [1]
Her detailed answers fail to excite voters. Following Brian’s advice, she switches to simple, emotionally loaded references, including 9/11, and wins their support. The template keeps the pause and applause while letting you replace her words. [1]
The fifth-season episode airs with the speech and audience reactions used in this template. [1]
Put the setup in the first Lois panel and the new detail in the second. The audience panels already supply the reaction, so they can stay blank.
Keep each line short enough to read before looking at the next panel. A meeting with pizza, an early finish, or a promised sequel can explain the sudden applause.
