A skeptical question gets an unapologetic answer from Joker. Put the opinion in the top panel and let the bottom panel own it.
The exchange turns an embarrassing preference into a confident declaration. The first speaker expects disagreement; the second refuses to back down.
It works best when the supposedly shocking confession is harmless, like enjoying cold pizza or reading spoilers. The serious faces make a small preference feel dramatic.
The two frames come from Joker, released in the United States on October 4, 2019. Robert De Niro’s Murray Franklin challenges Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck about the subway killings. Arthur’s defiant response became the basis for the meme. [1]
Spanish-language templates were circulating on Facebook by November 29, 2019. English versions appeared on Reddit in January 2020, replacing the film’s confrontation with arguments about tastes and opinions. [1]
Put the question beside Murray in the upper panel. Add the response in the dark space to Joker’s left below.
A short “I do” can carry the answer. You can also keep the familiar idea of being tired of hiding the preference, but leave enough room for readable text.
