Also called Dog at a Computer · Computer Husky · I Have No Idea Dog
A dog sits at a desktop computer with its paws on the keyboard. Add the task it has somehow been trusted to perform, then admit that the impressive setup has not supplied any actual expertise.
The dog looks occupied with a human job despite being completely unsuited to it. That mismatch makes the image useful for a first attempt, an unfamiliar tool, or a task you accepted too confidently.
The joke is usually an admission about yourself. Naming the specific job makes it more recognizable than simply repeating that you are confused.
The catchphrase became associated with dogs performing human tasks in 2011. Know Your Meme records Ben Grelle, also known as The Frogman, posting a captioned camera-dog image on February 27 that year, followed by a chemistry-dog example in June. [1]
This template uses a different photograph: a dark-coated dog at a desktop computer. It appears in the same caption family, but the dates of the camera and chemistry examples do not establish when this photograph was taken or first captioned. [2] [1]
Put the task at the top of the photograph and the admission near the bottom. Keep the dog’s face, keyboard, and paws visible so the setup still reads as a dog doing a human job.
For a shorter variation, replace the familiar admission with your actual next question. A specific task such as editing a spreadsheet gives the reader enough context.
