Also called Lidl Oil · Giant Oil Bottle · Too Much Olive Oil
A man pours from an enormous oil container into a salad bowl. Label the person, the oversized addition, and the thing receiving far too much of it.
The size of the container turns a small addition into an overwhelming one. Use it when someone adds excessive detail, decoration, reminders, or enthusiasm to something simple.
The man looks pleased with his work. That makes the image especially useful when the person overdoing it does not see a problem.
On January 3, 2019, Reddit user ReadManualBeforeUse posted a Lidl advertisement to r/croatia. The image showed a man dressing a salad from an unusually large oil container. [1]
Within days, users began labeling the man, container, and salad. Documented January 9 posts on Reddit and Facebook applied the exaggerated pour to other situations. [1]
Label the man on the right, the oil container on the left, and the bowl near the bottom. The three labels should form a simple sentence: someone adds too much of something to a target.
Keep the labels away from the face and stream of oil. Those details explain the cheerful excess.
