The exciting new project
The old project is close to done, which makes abandoning it for a fresh start more recognizable.

Also called Man Looking at Other Woman
Label the distraction, the person tempted by it, and the commitment they're about to neglect.
The man turns to look at the woman passing on the left while his partner on the right notices. Your labels turn that glance into a choice: a new hobby instead of an unfinished project, or another tab instead of the task already open.
The right-hand label matters as much as the tempting one. It tells us what the person should be paying attention to. Without it, the picture shows interest but loses the betrayal that makes the setup funny.
Photographer Antonio Guillem made the stock photograph. Shutterstock credits him and lists an upload date of July 19, 2015; Know Your Meme also records an iStock listing from November that year. [1] [2]
The photo's later meme captions assign ideas, habits, or priorities to the three people. Know Your Meme documents captioned versions from January 2017, while noting that earlier Turkish Facebook uses are not precisely dated. [2]
Shutterstock's listing dates this photograph to 2015, before its documented use as a labeled meme. [1]
A documented Facebook version labels the man Phil Collins and the two women as pop and progressive music. [2]
Examples spread on Twitter and Reddit, and people share other photographs from Guillem's series. [2]
Start with the commitment on the right. Then choose a distraction that would actually tempt the person in the middle. A freshly bought notebook can be funnier than a dramatic life change if everyone knows the old notebook is still empty.
Use labels rather than dialogue. Keep the faces visible and place each label close to its person so the reader doesn't have to untangle who represents what.

Buying more of the thing you haven't used is the conflict. The books on the right give the sale a consequence.
The distraction looks responsible, but it still pulls the student away from the work.
