Also called Cagney Carnation · Floral Fury · Angry and Innocent Flower
An angry flower screams in the top row, then looks completely innocent below. Put two comparable situations beside the faces to expose a double standard or a sudden change of attitude.
The top face treats something as an outrage; the bottom face acts as if nothing could be wrong. Pairing similar actions makes the inconsistency easy to see.
A common approach is to compare how you judge someone else with how you excuse yourself. You can also contrast two versions of an activity that receive very different reactions.
The flower is Cagney Carnation from Studio MDHR’s Cuphead, released on September 29, 2017. His boss encounter is called Floral Fury. Before the fight, he shifts from a harmless-looking smile to an aggressive expression. [1] [2]
The two-reaction meme was circulating by late 2019. Know Your Meme records an example posted to r/memes by EatYourReddit on November 11, 2019. The familiar layout places the angry face above the innocent one, reversing the order of the game’s introduction. [2]
Use the top-right white area for the situation that gets an angry reaction. Put the accepted or excused version in the bottom-right area.
