Also called Third Place Celebration · Bronze Winner · Never Give Up Comic
An athlete celebrates as though he has won everything. The final panel reveals that he finished third. Give the celebration a tiny achievement that somehow feels worthy of the full ceremony.
The comic delays the result until the last panel. Medal-biting, raised hands, and a bottle of champagne build up a victory that turns out to be more modest than expected.
The joke can poke fun at overconfidence or celebrate a small personal win. A caption about yourself makes the enthusiasm feel affectionate rather than dismissive.
Artist 3palec published the comic on Facebook on February 7, 2020, with the title “Never give up!” Its final panel reveals the celebrating athlete standing on the third-place step beside two quieter medalists. [1]
Know Your Meme records an early labeled version in Reddit’s r/PrequelMemes on February 15. Other posts used the whole comic as a reaction to a modest success, including an Imgur example about a post that became only mildly popular. [1]
Put one short caption across the athlete’s shirt in the middle-right panel. That ties the situation to his celebration while leaving the podium reveal intact.
Use a small, concrete accomplishment. If you add labels to the other medalists, keep the first-, second-, and third-place numbers visible so the comparison still works.
